South Metro Structure Fire

On August 28th, 2024 at 17:41 South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a reported residential structure fire in the 20500 block of Caley Drive in Arapahoe County. South Metro Fire Emergency Communications advised Battalion Chief 5 that single caller reporting that the back deck on fire and extending to the house and the call was upgraded to a working structure fire. Engine 23 arrived to a small two-story single-family with a working fire from the Charlie side and pulled a 1 3/4 for fire attack and primary search. Crews reported that two possible party trapped inside and command requested additional engine and medic to the scene. Battalion Chief 5 arrived in command and assigned Medic 23 to pulled 1 3/4 with Engine 22 to the Alpha side front door and primary search. Crews got the fire under control at 18:22. The two occupants that were trapped for a short time inside the residence were able to be safely evacuate with minor injuries and both refused medical treatment by fire medics and no other injuries were reported. The American Red Cross was requested for 3 occupants and their pets that were displaced by the fire. SMFR Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
