Arvada Aircraft Crash

On June 7th, 2024 at 09:31 Arvada Fire Protection District responded to a reported air plane down in the area of Oberon Rd. & Brentwood St. Jeffcom advised an aircraft went down with active flames spreading to a home and the call was upgraded to a structure fire response. Battalion 51 arrived with a plane down in the driveway on Oberon Rd. with multiple patients. Truck 54 arrived and started fire attack with 1 3/4 line and patient triage with Medic 51. Engine 51 secure the water supply, and the fire was isolated to the plane only with no extension to the home. The fire was put under control at 10:00 and Hazmat 54 was requested to the scene for fuel from the plane that was on the ground. The plane alerted the Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport Air Traffic Control Tower asking for an emergency landing with a low oil pressure light and minutes later the pilot reported to the tower that they were not going to make it and would need to put it down somewhere, and within a few minutes the tower lost contact. The plane, a 1969 Beechcraft 35 hit a fence and a tree before crashing into a vehicle in the driveway off Oberon Rd. Four patients were transported to local hospitals with unknown injuries. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed one of the patients that was taken to the hospital did pass away from the accident.
