West Metro Vegetation Fire

At 14:06 on January 12th, 2024 Jeffcom dispatched West Metro Fire Rescue and South Metro Fire Rescue to a possible vegetation fire in the area of C-470 near Ken Caryl. Engine 13 arrived to a wind driven brush fire threating structures behind Station 13 and the area off W. Indore Place. Engine 13 and Brush 13 started fire attack. The day care was evacuate to Station 13 to take shelter across the parking lot. Strong winds pushed five foot flames through dry vegetation, despite some areas covered with snow. Firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire and the rest of the response was cancelled. The cause is under investigation. Additional information provided by West Metro Fire Rescue
