La Junta Structure Fire

On May 26th, 2024 at approximately 06:00 the La Junta Fire Department was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire in the 1200 block of Rice Ave. Crews arrived on scene and found heavy fire coming from a single family residential structure. Mutual-aid was requested from Cheraw Rural Fire Department, Las Animas-Bent County Fire Department, Manzanola Rural Fire Protection District and Rocky Ford Fire Department. Firefighters were on scene several hours extinguishing the fire and mopping up. The Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control is assisting with the investigation.
