
Lakewood Iris Street Garage Fire
West Metro Garage Fire
At 18:16 on May 31st, 2024 Jeffcom dispatched West Metro Fire Rescue and Arvada Fire Protection District to a possible structure fire in the 2400 block of Iris St. in Lakewood. Engine 2 arrived to a fully involved dethatched garage and pulled a line in for fire attack in the offensive strategy. Engine 17 secured the water supply and Tower 2 pulled a 2nd line in. Engine 5 assigned with structure protection of the Delta structure and pulled 1 3/4 off Engine 2. Crews transition to foam on the fire when water became mixed with the fuel carrying the fire outside the structure. District 1 arrived and assumed command by Engine 2. The garage including four classic cars and other assorted vehicles were a total loss. Quick work by crews kept the fire from affecting another garage close by. One person had minor burns and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Additional information provided by West Metro Fire Rescue
