On November 12th, 2024 after 13:00 Poudre Fire Authority responded to a reported grass fire. Brush 7 arrived to a large wildland fire growing in windy conditions. The call was upgraded to a second and then third alarm. The incident commander assigned crews to structure protection while others were directed to attack the west and south flanks of the fire. Flames came within feet of several structures, but the crews were able to stop them in time and no structures were damaged. Some fencing did burn though. The cause of the fire was determined to be human-caused and accidental. The involved person reported the fire and remained on scene. He was issued a summons by the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO). Mutual-aid was requested from Wellington Fire Protection District and Livermore Fire Protection District, but it was cancelled because the fire was contained before the units arrived. Colorado State Forest Service, Larimer County Sheriff Wildland Team and Larimer County Sheriff’s Office also responded. Additional information provided by Poudre Fire Authority
