South Metro Residential Fire

On May 16th, 2024 at 15:42 South Metro Fire Emergency Communications Center dispatched South Metro Fire Rescue to a single family residential structure fire in the 17500 block of Cornerstone Lane in Parker. Upon arrival firefighters from Tower 45 encountered fire on the north side of the home that was extending from the fence to the home and nearby trees. They were able pull an attack line from Tower45 and get a good knock down of the advancing flames and stop any further extension to the home. While firefighters pulled the siding from the north side of the home, firefighters made entry into the home and garage pulling a portion of the ceiling and walls searching for any spread of fire on the interior. This fire was declared under control within 18 minutes. Investigators from SMFR Fire Marshal’s office determined that improper disposal of ash and coals from a fire pit the night prior were the cause of the fire. Two occupants of the home were able to safely evacuate the residence without injury. Information provided by South Metro Fire Rescue.
