West Metro Garage Fire

 At 10:58 on October 14th, 2024 West Metro Fire Rescue Engine 1 in the neighborhood on another call reported to dispatch that they have smoke showing about three blocks to the east and went to investigate. Engine 1 confirmed a working structure fire from a detached garage behind the home in the 7300 block of W. 32nd Ave. in Wheat Ridge, also involving the brush and tress in the ravine. Jeffcom than dispatched West Metro Fire crews and Arvada Fire Protection District to the confirmed structure fire. Engine 1 pulled 1 3/4 for fast attack and District 1 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy. Engine 2 arrived and assisted with the water supply and Engine 17 worked fire attack on the brush fire in the ravine. Firefighters were able to get a quick stop on the garage fire and the rest of the response was cancelled. Crews worked on an extended overhaul with hot spots and the investigation. The residents, who were home at the time, did not know there was a fire and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
