At 01:06 on December 13th, 2025 Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a possible structure fire in the 900 block of S. Carolina Place. A single 911 caller reported something on fire in the hallway of their apartment building and lots of smoke visible. First arriving Engine 8 found nothing showing from the large three-story multi-family building and met with a waver outside. Upon entry into the building Engine 8 found smoke conditions throughout the hallways and advanced a 1 3/4 for fire attack. Battalion 3 upgraded the response to a working fire, Engine 9 established the water supply and assumed command. Ladder 6 drove to the Charlie side where no conditions were visible from the exterior. Battalion 1 assumed incident safety and Engine 8 quickly located a sprinkler-controlled rubbish fire in a hallway. Falck 5 located a patient with smoke inhalation, they were assisted by Engine 7 and transported to the hospital. The incident was placed under control at 01:20 and crews remained on scene ventilating smoke and mitigating water damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Additional information provided by Aurora Fire Rescue
