On December 18, 2025 at approximately 09:46 Fort Collins 911 dispatched Poudre Fire Authority to a vegetation fire in the area southwest of the 4400 block of LaPorte Ave. While Brush 4 and Engine 2 were enroute, the calls flooded in and with a visible smoke plume this incident was upgraded to a second alarm vegetation response, adding several more brush trucks and tenders. Engine 2 provided a windshield report while attempting to find access in a type 1 engine, to include 1-2 acres burning with light flashy fuels. Training 1 made access on the West side and assumed command, confirming the size-up and instructing Engine 2 to make access with the engine and deploy a progressive hoseline to the fire. Brush 7 and Brush 4 arrived soon after Engine 2 and began assisting with progressive hoselays. Engine 2 advised command of downed power lines and requested Xcel respond to confirm de-energization. Battalion 2 arrived and teamed up with Training 1 to assume command of the incident, and assigned Zulu Division to units on the West side and Alpha to Brush 12 on the East side. Battalion 1 arrived on scene and became the “lookout” and reported the fire was entering heavy timber and making its way toward a structure. This report was integral in the saving of all structures on scene, allowing command to direct crews to the immediate threat. Brush 12 made quick work of a progressive hoseline deployment and slowed the fire while crews from the Phantom Canyon Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Wildland Team and PFA  began “falling” operations to cut down the trees and brush creating a strong fireline. Crews were able to call the fire under control at approximately 10:52, and estimate the fire to have burned 2.5 acres. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Poudre Fire Authority
