
Lakewood Fenton Street Kitchen Fire
West Metro Kitchen Fire
Just after midnight on January 6th, 2026 West Metro Fire Rescue and Arvada Fire Protection District was alerted to a possible structure fire in the 900 block of Fenton St. in Lakewood. Jeffcom 911 advised 911 caller reporting that fire in the kitchen on the upper level and all occupants evacuated. Engine 1 arrived on scene to a small single-story with nothing showing and started the investigation. Crews found a working fire in the kitchen area and pulled 1 3/4 to the Alpha side front door for fire attack with Medic 1 and Engine 7 secured the water supply assisted by Engine 16. Engine 2 pulled a 2nd line off Engine 1 to the Charlie-Delta corner and Tower 2 started the primary search. District 1 arrived and assumed command on the Alpha side. Crews quickly knocked down the fire, keeping it contained to the kitchen and preventing it from spreading throughout the home.. Crews then completed extensive overhaul, checking for hidden hot spots and removing debris which made more difficult by an extreme accumulation of personal belongings that restricted access inside the home. The fire was caused by a pan left on a hot stove and the homeowner was transported by Medic 11 to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
