Castle Rock 3rd Alarm Residential Structure Fire
Castle Rock 3rd Alarm Fire
At 14:00 on April 22nd, 2026 Castle Rock Fire & Rescue Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 283 Hampstead Ave. in the Founders Village Community. While enroute, numerous 911 callers reported two homes on fire, possibly extending to a third. Battalion 151 was first on scene and sized up two medium size single-family homes with fire burning between them, assumed command and transmitted a 2nd alarm with level two staging at Founders Park. Engine 153 positioned in front of the main fire occupancy at 305 Hampstead Ave. and established a water supply from the hydrant in the front yard and advanced a line to control the exterior fire. Engine 153’s officer completed a 360º reporting electrical boxes and a damaged natural gas meter free flowing between the homes, and fire extending into the attics. Medic 153 advanced a second line into 283 Hampstead Ave. (Delta one exposure) for fire control and primary search. Engine 153 advanced a third line to the main fire occupancy for fire control and primary search where Quint 155 positioned on the Bravo side and conducted vertical ventilation. Chief 151 was assigned as the Delta Division supervisor, Chief 155 was assigned as the Alpha Division supervisor, Safety 151 was assigned as the Incident Safety Officer, Chief 158 assumed Staging Area Manager nearby, and Medic 151 was incident medical. Quint 151 positioned in front of the Delta one exposure, Engine 154 laid a second water supply to them and Engine 152 assisted with searches in the main fire occupancy. After vertical ventilation was completed on the Bravo side of the main fire occupancy, fire self-vented from the Delta side roof with a partial collapse, prompting command to order a withdraw order. Once all companies were accounted for outside, Quint 155 flowed their aerial master stream and quickly controlled the attic fire. Crews reentered to complete a secondary search and overhaul. All second alarm units were called into the scene, prompting a third alarm to backfill the staging area. All searches were clear, no injuries occurred, one cat was rescued and reunited with its human. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
