At 15:30 on June 2nd 2026 Adams County Fire Rescue, North Metro Fire Rescue District and Thornton Fire Department responded to a possible structure fire in the 8700 block of Galen Court in Welby. Adcom 911 advised that a fire in the kitchen on the stove top spreading to the ceiling and Battalion 11 requested a major incident tone. Engine 14 arrived to nothing showing from a three-story apartment building with evacuations and pulled 1 3/4 for the primary search and fire control in a lower level apartment with Medic 14. Engine 71 arrived started the primary search on the first floor and Battalion 62 arrived and assumed command. Crews found a fire in the kitchen area which was put under control at 15:47 with no extension. There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
