Peachwood Drive Basement Fire

At 00:44 on July 25th, 2022 the Grand Junction Regional Communication Center dispatched  Clifton Fire Protection District and Grand Junction Fire Department for a smoke check for the presence of smoke in the area of Eastmoor Drive and Bookcliff Ave. Clifton Engine 21 and Truck 21 were already assigned to a residential structure fire in the 400 block of Bing Lane in Clifton and requested the smoke check be handled with mutual aid. Engine 2 was dispatched to investigate. At 00:52 the call was upgraded to a residential structure fire and rebalanced with a full complement with an updated address of the 500 block of Peachwood Drive for reports of smoke coming from the 2nd floor windows and a glow in the basement. Engine 2 arrived to a small two-story single-family structure, smoke showing from the second floor and a glow in the basement, stretched for fire control and primary search in the offensive strategy and requested the second due engine to secure a water supply. Engine 2 advised of a single-family split-level home with a working fire in the basement, attempted to gain access, and made a transitional attack. Engine 2 reported having knockdown on the fire and began investigating for extension. Engine 1 arrived and was assigned to assist Engineer 2 with the water supply and conduct a primary search on the second level. Ambulance 1 was assigned medical and staged south.  The fire is under investigation due to the home being unattended at the time of the fire.
