Castle Rock Defensive Fire
On February 17th, 2025 at 08:10 Castle Rock Fire & Rescue Department was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire in the 700 block of Fourth St. with reports of people trapped. Battalion 151 arrive on scene to a small two-story family dwelling, and declared a working fire and assumed command on the Alpha-Delta corner. With a known victim and hoarding conditions, Quint 151 and Medic 151 advanced an 1 3/4 line for fire attack and the primary search. Safety 151 was assigned as the incident safety officer, conducted a 360º and reported fire through the roof on the Charlie side. After talking with neighbors, Chief 152 reported the victim was likely trapped in a first-floor bedroom on the Alpha-Bravo corner. Engine 152 conducted targeted VEIS on that first-floor room and located one adult victim during their primary search. The victim was rapidly removed and transported with CPR in progress by Medic 153 to a local hospital. A water supply to Quint 151 was established at Fourth St. and Lewis St. and Engine 152 established a second water supply. Engine 153 advanced a backup to the Alpha side. With all companies working, Command transmitted a 2nd Alarm with level two staging at the Cantril School nearby. A cat was also located during the search and brought outside where Castle Rock Police Officers attempted resuscitation efforts, sadly the cat did not survive. District Chief 1 was assigned as the Charlie Division supervisor and crews transitioned to a defensive strategy. Firefighter worked for several hours to fully extinguish the fire and the cause is under investigation. Additional information provided by Castle Rock Fire & Rescue Department
