Castle Rock Chimney Fire
On March 16th, 2025 at 07:13 Castle Rock Fire & Rescue Department responded to 23 Mountain Shadow Court for a possible structure fire. Battalion 151 was first to arrive and observed light smoke showing from a chimney on the Bravo-Charlie corner of a one and two story 4-plex. Quint 151 positioned on the Alpha side and advanced a 1 3/4 line to the Charlie side for fire attack. Engine 154 established a water supply by assisting Quint 151’s operator with a hand stretch of 5″ hose to a hydrant in the parking lot. Firefighters laddered the roof to gain better access, quickly controlling a fire that escaped the chimney flue and extended into the wooden chase. Quint 155 assisted with opening and overhauling on what became a very slick roof surface with the 25ºF temperature outside. Medic 153 was assigned incident medical standby and Engine 152 was RIT. Additional overhaul was necessary interior around the firebox to ensure the fire was extinguished. All occupants safely evacuated and no injuries occurred. Companies operated on scene for just over 2 hours before returning to service.
