South Metro Garage Fire
At 16:17 on September 15th, 2025 South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire in the 6700 block of W. Roxbury Place in Columbine. Dispatch advised that an e-bike was on fire with active flames and the battery exploding. Engine 13 arrived to small one-story residential structure with a working garage fire and pulled 2 1/2 for fire attack and the primary search with Medic 13. Safety 1 arrived and assumed command and upgraded to a confirmed structure fire and Engine 16 secured the water supply. Battalion 1 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy. A quick fire attack stopped the flames from spreading to the living space, and the fire was declared under control at 16:43. SMFR’s Hazardous Materials Team was dispatched due to the presence of multiple lithium-ion batteries stored in the garage. Two juvenile occupants safely evacuated. Investigators determined the cause to be improper charging of lithium-ion batteries. Additional information provided by South Metro Fire Rescue
