At 16:20 on June 19th, 2025 South Metro Fire Rescue responded to reports of a brush fire off the Spring Gulch Trail near Trailblazer Elementary School in Highlands Ranch. Battalion 1 arrived on scene and found a small, slow moving grass fire on the west end of the path. However, due to the proximity of nearby structures and the fire reaching the trees, the incident was upgraded to a “Large Brush Fire” which brought in more resources to help contain the fire. Crews worked on the ground to contain the fire the best they could and a helicopter provided by Douglas County OEM made a water drop on the fire to help put it out. With efforts from both ground and air crews, the fire was officially put under control at 17:01. The cause of this fire is under investigation. Story information provided by Southwest Fire Buff
