Mountain View Grass Fire
On July 3rd, 2025 just after 19:30 Mountain View Fire Rescue responded to a grass fire between Hwy. 36 and the Saddlebrooke community. Dispatch reported a 911 caller reporting a fire in the grassy area on a hillside that was slowly spreading uphill to the Superior sign that is seen from the highway. The fire was limited to just over a quarter acre. The investigation determined that an unhoused person living in a tent had been smoking and thought he had extinguished his cigarette, however it lit the grass on fire near his campsite. Louisville Fire Protection District, North Metro Fire Rescue District and Lafayette Fire Department also responded with mutual-aid. Additional information provided by Mountain View Fire Rescue
