Nederland Commercial Fire

On October 9th, 2025 around 03:40 Boulder County Communications (1800) dispatched Nederland Fire Protection District, Timberline Fire Protection District, Sugar Loaf Fire Protection District and Boulder Emergency Squad to the Caribou Village Shopping Center, 20 Lakeview Drive on a fully involved commercial structure fire. Dispatch advised that Boulder County Sheriff deputy reporting a fully involved structure fire at the strip mall involving the Sheriff’s substation. Command 5650 arrived to a two-story shopping center with a fully involved fire from the 2nd floor and requested to drop second tones for Nederland Fire and begin evacuations of the area. Evacuations were ordered for the surrounding areas, but were lifted later. Engine 5602 arrived and started defensive operations. The fire was put under control approximately 07:11 but crews work throughout the day with hot spots and overhaul. The fire destroyed around 19 businesses including the nature center and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office substation. The fire did not burn the carousel, the grocery store or the train cars coffee as crews were able to keep fire from spreading to other structures. Evacuation were requested during the fire in the area. No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation. Additional information provided by Nederland Fire Protection District
