Strasburg Arrowhead Road Interface Fire
Strasburg Interface Fire
On August 22nd, 2025 at approximately 10:30 Strasburg Fire Protection District and Byers Fire Protection District were dispatched to a reported small brush fire on Arrowhead St. in Strasburg. The initial 911 callers reported a 1 acre fire slowly moving to the south. First arriving Brush Engine 81 sized up 1-2 acres burning, light fuels with moderate spread. Within minutes though increasing winds pushed the fire into heavier fuels and the incident was upgraded to an I-70 Corridor response for a large brush fire. Chief-71 assumed Command upon his arrival and East and West Divisions were established. The fire continued to spread rapidly, threatening to jump Strasburg Rd. to the east and County Rd. 6 to the south. There was also a subdivision to the west that was of some concern. CORE Electric utilities were also at risk, which necessitated a shutdown that impacted a large number of homes in Strasburg, Byers and Deer Trail. Due to the interface concerns additional resources were requested as a precaution. Crews battled somewhat rugged terrain and shifting winds for approximately 1 hour before achieving containment. Extensive overhaul was then required with units remaining on-scene for an additional 90 minutes. Approximately 20 acres were burned in this incident. The cause of the fire was determined to be hot work on a fence line. Possible charges are pending. Information and photos provided by Strasburg Fire Protection District
