
West Metro Alameda Ave 2nd Alarm Fire
Lakewood Commercial Fire
On February 3rd, 2025 at 22:35 Jeffcom dispatched West Metro Fire Rescue to a structure fire in the abandoned gas station at 5950 W. Alameda Ave. in Lakewood. Engine 7 en route reported a smoke header showing from half a mile away. Engine 7 arrived to a single-story gas station and a vehicle repair garage with flames showing from the Alpha-Bravo corner with a temporary fence, pulled 1 3/4 to Alpha side for offensive attack and force the fence. Medic 7 pulled additional 1 3/4 line and Engine 3 assisted with the water supply. Medic 3 arrived and assigned with medical. Dispatch advised that from Lakewood Police reporting people inside. Engine 1 arrived and started the primary search and command requested two additional medics to the scene. Crews reported possibly two parties trapped. District 2 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy and requested a 2nd alarm at 22:50 for resources. Firefighters rescued one victim on the Charlie side, which was transported by Medic 1 to a local hospital with unknown injuries. The fire was put under control at 23:09 with no other patients found inside. Crews worked an extensive overhaul and investigation. The fire was in an abandoned building, which was a former gas station and car wash. The building was being used as a shelter with possibly two dozen people living inside.
