Arvada Garage Fire
On January 13th, 2026 at approximately 23:42 Arvada Fire Protection District and West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a fully involved structure fire in the 6200 block of W. 53rd Ave. Jeffcom 911 received multiple callers reporting seeing smoke and fire and Jefferson County Sheriff Deputies on scene with flames from the roof with explosions and started evacuations of the nearby houses. Medic 51 arrived to a fully involved outbuilding and Engine 51 sized up the scene with a confirmed working fire from a detached garage in the backyard of a home and an outside fire, pulled 2 lines one for the garage fire and for the outside fire. Engine 16 secured the water supply to Engine 51 and then assisted with fire attack. Medic 16 assigned as medical and District 1 assumed command in the offensive strategy. Crews worked heavy fire conditions from the garage and attic space which spread to the nearby fence line, trees, and an adjacent garage. Crews got the fire in the garage put under control at midnight and crew worked on the outside fire for a short time before getting it under control. Command requested another engine to the scene with a Conex box with a lot of debris and Engine 17 arrived and started work on that it with Battalion 52 in command. The involved structure was a total loss and no one was in the garage at the time of the incident and no injuries occurred. The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation.
