Denver Vegetation Fire

Around 13:45 on March 21st, 2026 Denver Fire Department Engine 9 was dispatched to a trash or weed fire near E. 48th Ave. and Monaco St. While enroute on I-70, a large plume of black smoke was visible. At the same time, South Adams County Fire Department and Adams County Fire Rescue were dispatched to a structure fire in the same area. First arriving Engine 9 spotted on a hydrant and stretched an attack line through a chain link fence on the south side of E. 48th Ave. where a large vegetation fire was burning in grass, cattails, and heavy timber. South Adams Engine 22 established a water supply at E. 48th & Monaco St. and Denver Engine 26 established a third water supply on E. 48th just west of the railroad tracks. Companies worked for nearly 45 minutes to bring the fire under control. No injuries occurred and no structures were threatened.
