
Lakeside Lane Vegetation Fire
West Metro Vegetation Fire
On March 14th, 2026 at 18:26 Jeffcom 911 dispatched West Metro Fire Rescue Engine 16 to a reported vegetation fire off I-70 on Lakeside Lane between Harlan St. and Sheridan Blvd. on a Red Flag Warning day. Engine 16 arrived to a small vegetation fire with multiple trees on fire and pulled 1 3/4 for fire attack and requested additional units to the scene as the fire was quickly extending east towards the amusement park fence line. District 1 arrived and assumed Lakeside command and requested Tender 6 to the scene with no hydrants along the stretch of the road. Denver Engine 17 arrived and started fire attack on Lakeside Lane by Sheridan Blvd. with West Metro Engine 17. Denver Engine 7 worked fire attack on I-70 with a line and Brush 5 from the Harlan St. on ramp. Crews worked the fire in strong winds, dry fuels, and heavy smoke reducing visibility for traffic in both directions of I-70. The fire was quickly controlled from spreading onto the grounds of the Lakeside Amusement Park and crews worked an extended overhaul on hot spots. The fire burned about two acres and the cause is under investigation. Additional information proved by West Metro Fire Rescue
