On March 20th, 2026 at 21:53 West Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a possible vehicle into the water at Kendrick Lake at the Jewell Park, 1850 Garrison St. in Lakewood. The call was upgraded a few minutes later to a dive rescue response by Jeffcom 911 with dive response from South Metro Fire Rescue. Crews arrived to a vehicle into the lake with one occupant needing to be rescued and divers quickly made entry into the water to removed the driver and brought them safely to shore and South Metro was cancelled. The patient was transported by Medic 8 to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The vehicle was not fully submerged with lower-than-normal water levels this winter. Divers remained on scene, assisting the tow truck driver with removing the vehicle from the lake. It appears the driver accidentally made a wrong turn, drove along the edge of the lake and into the water. Additional information provided by West Metro Fire Rescue
