West Metro Abandoned Building Fire

On January 11th. 2026 at 22:54 Jeffcom 911 dispatched West Metro Fire Rescue and Arvada Fire Protection District to a possible structure fire in the 1400 block of Pierce St. in Lakewood. Engine 1 arrived on scene to a small single-story abandoned building with a working fire and pulled a 1 3/4 for fire attack and advised that best access is off Otis St. Engine 2 secured the water supply to Engine 1 and Medic 2 with medical. Medic 1 pulled a 2nd hose line to the Bravo side for fire attack and Tower 2 with the primary search. District 1 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy. The fire was put under control at 23:18 and firefighters worked on an extended overhaul and Tower 2 worked on master stream operations on hot spots. This building has had several fires in the past.
