
Lakewood West 16th Ave Deck Fire
West Metro Deck Fire
On June 27th, 2026 at 17:11 West Metro Fire Rescue and Arvada Fire Protection District responded to a possible apartment fire in the 5200 block of W. 16th Ave. in Lakewood. Jeffcom 911 advised that report of a fire in an apartment complex on the 2nd level back porch. Squad 1 arrived on scene to a medium a three-story multi-family residential with a working fire from the Charlie side 2nd floor and Engine 1 pulled 1 3/4 for fire attack and the primary search with Medic 11. Engine 16 secured the water supply to Engine 1 and District 1 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy. The fire was contained quickly on the 2nd story deck, preventing it from spreading into the building and firefighters rescued two cats in the apartment. The fire was caused by discarded smoking materials in a planter that was being used as an ashtray. No injuries were reported. Additional information provided by West Metro Fire Rescue
