On March 18th, 2026 at 21:55 West Metro Fire Rescue Engine 2 and Engine 3 was dispatched to a reported vegetation fire in the area W. 6th Ave. east of Indiana Ave. in Lakewood. Jeffcom 911 received several callers reporting fire on the north side of W. 6th Ave. threatening structures and additional resources were added for a brush fire response and structure protection. Engine 3 arrived to a large wind-driven vegetation fire along the frontage road and pulled a bumper line for fire attack. Tender 6 arrived and set-up on the freeway for water supply operations. Crews worked the fire from getting into the Daniels neighborhood with structure protection for the nearby homes and fences. The fire was put under control at 22:04 and crews worked on hot spots for an extended time. The fire burned around one acre. W. 6th Ave. westbound was closed during the incident.
