West Metro Outside Fire

On March 9th, 2026 at 23:38 West Metro Fire Rescue Engine 1 was dispatched to an outside fire in the 6100 block of W. Colfax Ave. in Lakewood. Jeffcom 911 upgraded the call with multiple callers and Engine 1 arrived to a working fire and pulled 1 3/4 for for attack with Medic 11. Engine 3 assisted with the water supply and pulled a line for fire attack from Jay St. Engine 2 pulled a 3rd attack line off Engine 1. Crews reported power lines down on the Charlie side and Xcel was requested. District 1 arrived and assumed Colfax command. Crews worked several tires and fences on fire with flames as high as 25-30 feet. Tower 2 arrived and started master stream operations and to provide a steady water stream to the difficult areas to reach by ground. The fire was put under control at 00:23 and crews spent several hours on scene to extinguish the flames and to conduct their investigation and overhaul. No injuries were reported and the scene is under investigation for a cause.
