North Metro Fuel Spill

Around 10:30 on February 9th, 2026 North Metro Fire Rescue District and Thornton Fire Department responded to a hazmat fuel spill on southbound I-25 just south of W. 120th Ave. Truck 62 arrived to a semi leaking fuel on the shoulder and started the investigation. Crews were able to quickly stopped the leak and successfully contained the fuel to the shoulder of the highway. The trucking company safely transferred the remaining fuel and a licensed hazardous materials contractor was called to complete proper cleanup. The semi struck roadway debris, puncturing a fuel tank causing a significant diesel spill. Additional information provided by North Metro Fire Rescue District
