On August 1st, 2026 West Metro Fire Rescue held an open house at Station 8, 9001 W. Jewell Ave. in Lakewood and was dedicated in 2010. The community came out to tour the station, meet up with the station firefighters, ask questions and have their photos taken with some of the apparatus. Snacks and drinks were also supplied. Station 8 was originally located next door and is currently a storage station housing the dive rescue and boats and was the former Bancroft Fire Protection District Station 42.
