Station 8 Open House

On August 1st, 2026 West Metro Fire Rescue held an open house at Station 8, 9001 W. Jewell Ave. in Lakewood and was dedicated in 2010. The community came out to tour the station, meet up with the station firefighters, ask questions and have their photos taken with some of the apparatus. Snacks and drinks were also supplied. Station 8 was originally located next door and is currently a storage station housing the dive rescue and boats and was the former Bancroft Fire Protection District Station 42. The WMFR open houses also help to show how much the coasts are for the department from the turnout gear and SCBA to radios, helmets, tools, and all the other equipment they rely on every day including training, outfitting a single West Metro firefighter costs nearly $50,000. It’s one of the biggest behind-the-scenes investments they make-before a firefighter ever responds to a single call. Like everything else, the cost of this lifesaving equipment continues to rise.
