West Colorado River Rescue

On August 15th, 2009 the Grand Junction Fire Department and Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported water rescue in the Colorado River just west of Grand Junction. Five people hit turbulent water while tubing and became stranded on an island. Both agencies deployed boats into the river and were able to rescue the tubers from the island. No injuries were reported.
