On March 3rd, 2009 the Lower Valley Fire Protection District was dispatched to a brush fire near Mack. Firefighters arrived on scene and found a wind driven fire quickly moving north through ranch land. Crews were able to keep the fire away from a nearby home and doused it using brush trucks and their tender.
