The 2010 Juneteenth celebration was held in Five Points on June 19th, 2010. First responders from Denver and Aurora participated in the celebration which commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. Juneteenth marks the anniversary of General Order Number 3 by Union Army General Gordon Granger on June 19th, 1865, proclaiming freedom for slaves in Texas. Aurora Fire Department, Aurora Police Department, Denver Fire Department, Denver Police Department and Denver Sheriff participated in the event.
