Elbert County Road 102 Fire

 At 13:51 on June 24th, 2012 fire departments from several departments were called to weeds being burned got out of control that spread into hay bales. The fire burned 600 acres including 150 large hay bales, 1500 small hay bales, a bale wagon, boat, camper, 20 x 30 barn, and a tool shed. The Elbert County Wildland Response Team was activated. The fire was 100% contained at 16:00 with no injuries that were reported. Additional information provided by LaRiea Thompson, Elbert County Emergency Management
