Loveland Structure Fire

At 19:25 on March 12th, 2013 Loveland Fire Rescue Authority & Big Thompson Canyon Fire Department were dispatched to a structure fire in the 1600 block of Hwy. 34 (River Fork Rd. at Sly Fox Rd.) in Drake. Crews arrived to a fully involved home and detached garage, with the fire spreading to the nearby brush, trees and threatening a propane tank that supplied the home and a church which was nearby. The church was saved by firefighters, and only suffering minor damage. Crews used water shuttle operations with water tenders bringing water in for fire attack. The Big Thompson Canyon (Hwy. 34) was closed between the Dam Store at W. County Rd. 22H to Mall Rd. in Estes Park for several hours for fire operations. Crews got the fire under control around 21:00 but stayed on scene through the night with hot spots, overhaul and the investigation. No injuries were reported and the cause is unknown at this time.
