Edgewater 2nd Alarm

At 22:25 on April 1st, 2013 Wheat Ridge Fire Protection District responded to a possible structure fire at 2620 Kendall St. in Edgewater with auto-aid from West Metro Fire Rescue & Fairmount Fire Protection District. Engine 73 arrived on scene to a multi-family apartment complex with smoke showing and established their own water supply and started fire attack with Engine 71. Battalion 71 arrived and assumed command, with crews reporting flames on the Delta side with black laminar smoke, and command requested a 2nd alarm due to the size of the building. Tower 73 assigned as ventilation and search, and Engine 33 as RIT on the Bravo side. Engine 1 advanced a second line in for fire attack, and checked the attic space. Conditions improved in the fire unit within 20 minutes and the fire was placed under control. Crews worked for an extended time overhauling. No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation.
