Applewood Kitchen Fire

At 15:14 on June 28th, 2014 Wheat Ridge Fire Protection District with auto-aid from West Metro Fire Rescue & Fairmount Fire Protection District responded to a confirmed structure fire in the 11700 block of W. 30th Pl. in Lakewood. Dispatched alerted units that a box on the stove caught fire, was not contained and the residents evacuated the structure. Engine 2 arrived to a single-family single-story residential with smoke showing, and pulled a attack line in with Medic 2. Crews quickly located a kitchen fire that was knocked, and found possible extension into the attic. Battalion 71 arrived and assumed command, and assigned Engine 73 to secured the water supply. Tower 72 & Engine 71 arrived and assisted crews inside. Engine 3 secured the utilities and Tower 3 as RIT. No extension to the attic was found and crews started overhaul.
