Edgewater Kitchen Fire

At 03:25 on March 16th, 2015 Wheat Ridge Fire Protection District responded to a reported structure fire 2020 Eaton St. in Edgewater with auto-aid from West Metro Fire Rescue and Fairmount Fire Protection District. A 911 caller reported all residents were out of the house, fire was from a candle in the kitchen and possibly out. Engine 73 arrived to a single-story residence with a working fire on the Charlie side and pulled a line in for fire attack. Battalion 71 arrived and assumed command. Engine 71 established the water supply from W. 20th Ave. and Tower 72 assigned to primary search and utilities. Engine 33 arrived and assisted Engine 73 with fire attack, Engine 1 assigned as RIT, and Medic 1 as medical. One occupant was treated for burns and transported to a local hospital. Medic 1 treated a cat with smoke inhalation, and was transported to a local animal hospital. The fire was quickly placed under control, and all searched proved negative. No other injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation.
