Working Garage Fire
On February 3rd, 2016 at 14:22 Wheat Ridge Fire Protection District with auto-aid from West Metro Fire Rescue & Fairmount Fire Protection District responded to a reported structure fire at 4135 Ingalls St. 911 caller reporting that one person was possibly trapped in the basement with 3 family dogs. Engine 71 arrived and found a small single-story residential structure with a working fire with flames showing from the Charlie side, and began fast attack with a 2 1/2 line in the offensive strategy. Battalion 71 arrived and took over command from Engine 71 on the Alpha side. Engine 73 laid in from the hydrant at W. 42nd Ave. & Ingalls St. and then reported to command that there was a roof collapse on the Charlie side. A transition was made to a defensive strategy in the garage. Tower 72 arrived and split crews to check the attic for extension and to secure the utilities. Engine 1 assigned to pull a 1 3/4 line off Engine 71 to the Charlie side, and Medic 1 set-up as medical with Pridemark on W. 41st Ave. Crews got the fire under control with no extension to the attic. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
