I-70 Vehicle Over The Guardrail

At 10:20 on January 14th, 2018 Foothills Fire Protection District was dispatched to a rollover Eastbound I-70 at mile marker 257 with multiple 911 callers reporting one vehicle over the guardrail. Crews arrived on scene to one SUV over the rail just before the runaway truck ramp about 150 feet down, with a party trapped, and request an additional ambulance. Crews reported that a child and possible five more patients, Command requested a chopper go from Flight for Life, and mutual-aid from Genesee Fire Rescue, Evergreen Fire Rescue and West Metro Fire Rescue. Jeffco Sheriff and Colorado State Patrol shut down the highway at Lookout Mountain. Crews worked a high angle rescue and were able to get all patients out and transported to local hospitals. Parts of the highway were shut down for several hours and the crash is under investigation.
