Douglas County Plane Crash

At 20:23 on May 11th, 2018, South Metro Fire Rescue was alerted to an Alert 3 Aircraft Crash in the area of I-25 and RidgeGate Pkwy. Centennial Tower reported loss of contact in the area of I-25 and RidgeGate Pkwy. Crews were updated to a new location of Chambers Rd. and RidgeGate per DCSO. Crews were moved to MCOPS3 for operations. MetCom updated all units to Stepping Stone Drive for a new location for the incident after a house was involved in the crash. Crews were updated for an occupied structure involved at 11083 Pastel Point and a second alarm for additional medic units were requested. Parker PD was able to locate a crash in the field to the west of the structures. Safety 31 was first in with Medic 36 and reported a confirmed plane crash. Battalion Chief 32, Tower 34 & Medic 36 were assigned Aircraft Group to assess aircraft status and number of patients. The debris field was reported at approximately 2 acres. It was determined that there was one soul on board, deceased, and large debris field. The engine was found lodged in a structure and no injuries on the ground were reported. The plane was determined to be a Cirrus SR22 Single Engine Aircraft.
