At 12:56 on May 11th, 2018, South Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a traffic accident and haz-mat response on Parker Road at South Lewiston Way. A semi truck hauling two large 10,000 pound concrete culverts traveling northbound on Parker Road lost its load after the drive hit his brakes. One culvert slammed through the headache rack into the back of the cab. The second culvert rolled off onto the highway, missing other traffic. The driver was not injured and approximately 25 gallons of vehicle fluids spilled onto the roadway. Crews spent approximately three hours on scene cleaning up the fuel with absorbent, removing debris, and standing by while the semi was towed away.

Units on scene:

South Metro: Battalion Chief 61, Tower 35, Engine 62, Haz-Mat 38, Safety 33 & PIO 30

Aurora Fire Rescue: Tower 6

Aurora Police Department, Arapahoe County Sheriff & CDOT
