On November 22nd, 2018 at 14:18 Adams County Fire Rescue Medic 12 pulled up to flames showing from a roof, and heavy black smoke at the former Nolans RV center at W. 71st Ave. & Federal Blvd, and advised Adcom to alerted Westminster Fire Department which is in their jurisdiction. Adcom started a working structure fire, with multiple 911 calls received with large smoke plume in the air. Westminster Communications Center dispatched a full structure fire assignment. Crews arrived to a large abandoned building with heavy fire. Truck 12 and Truck 2 set-up aerial master streams to control the fire. Crews worked the fire for several hours with heavy fire conditions, mutual-aid was requested from Adams County, Federal Heights, Arvada, and Denver Fire Districts. South Adams County Fire Department and Arvada Fire Protection District also back-filled the district for coverage. The fire was put under control 16:20, and crews were on scene for several hours with overhaul, and overnight with hot spots and the investigation. Federal Blvd. was closed during the fire ops in both directions. No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation.
