West Metro House Fire

At 12:19 on December 20th, 2018 JeffCom dispatched out West Metro Fire Rescue to a possible structure fire at 3190 Wadsworth Blvd. Engine 16 arrived to a medium 2-story structure. and a working fire with possible attic involvement, pulled a 1 3/4 line in for fast attack to the Charlie-Delta side in the offensive mode. Engine 17 arrived and spit crews: secured a water supply to Engine 16 and assisted Engine 16 with search. Engine 2 arrived and laddered the roof and secured the utilities, Engine 1 made entry at the front door for search on the 2nd floor. District 1 arrived and assumed command on the Alpha side. Medic 11 pulled a 2nd line off Engine 16 to the Charlie side with Medic 16, and Medic 11 was assigned to medical group. Tower 2 arrived and assigned to open up the roof for coordinated ventilation, Tower 8 arrived and assisted Tower 2. Wheat Ridge Police Department shut down northbound Wadsworth Blvd. at W. 29th Ave. and westbound and eastbound W. 32nd Ave. for fire operations. Fire was put under control at 13:00 and crews started an extended overhaul in the structure. The primary Investigator on scene reported that the cause of the fire was an electric barbecue smoker, which was sitting next to the house, and set the eaves on fire and flames crawled into the attic space of the house. No opponents were in the house at the time of the fire and no reported injuries.
