Denver Structure Fire
At 04:45 on March 29th, 2019 Denver Fire Department responded to a reported fire at W. 4th Ave. & Santa Fe Dr. Engine 11 arrived to a working fire in abandoned building, and laid in with Rescue 1 in command of a single story brick structure with fire showing from the roof. Engine 1 laid two lines in from W. 4th Ave. & Santa Fe to the back of the alley and Tower 1 set-up master stream ops on the Alpha side. Engine 20 arrived and established a water supply to Tower 1, and Chief 2 arrived and assumed command with wires down in the street, heavy fire and defensive operations, and requested additional Engine and Truck to the scene with Xcel. Ops 2 arrived and assigned as Safety, Tower 23 set-up master stream ops on the Alpha-Delta corner, and Truck 4 put the stick up on the Charlie-Bravo corner. Crews worked fire attack for several hours to make sure all hot spots were controlled and out. Santa Fe was closed by Denver Police for fire operations. No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation. The fire was part of the same building that was involved in the gas explosion last August 2018 that injured nine people.
