Denver Gas Explosion

Around 13:20 on August 14th, 2018 Denver Fire Department Engine 1 reported to dispatch that they just witnessed a very large explosion in the area of Broadway & Alameda, with smoke showing in the air, Denver Fire dispatch put a group out for a possible explosion call. With multiple 911 calls and a a updated address of 3rd Ave. & Santa Fe with reported people trapped, Chief 2 enroute requested a Full Collapse Response. Crews arrived at 4th Ave & Santa Fe Dr. to a one story four-plex residential structure with a natural gas explosion and trapped victims, crews were able to rescue 2 trapped patients. Chief 2 requested additional 2 ambulances to the scene, and Ops 2 arrived as safety. Engine 23 pulled a 2 1/2 attack line in the alley, and Xcel worked the gas leak in the back of the structure. Tower 1 set-up with an aerial view of the structure, and Air/Light arrived and set-up as rehab. Crews search the structure including Colorado Task Force 1 and South Metro Fire Rescue, and no other victims were found. Nine injuries were reported and the scene is under investigation.
