Adams County Defensive Fire

On September 7th, 2020 around 08:40 Adams County Fire Rescue was alerted to a commercial fire at 6001 Federal Blvd. Engine 11 & Medic 11 arrived to an abandoned building with heavy smoke and fire showing, and started fire attack in the defensive mode. Several attack lines were pulled and master stream operations. Crews worked heavy fire in the attic area of the building and a partially roof collapsed. The fire was extremely difficult to extinguish until it self-ventilated. Crews remained on scene for hours putting out the hot spots and overhaul. Southbound Federal Blvd. at W. 62nd Ave. was closed for several hours for fire operations.
