West Metro Garage Fire

At 03:23 on August 21st, 2020 JeffCom dispatched West Metro Fire Rescue with auto-aid from Arvada Fire Protection District to a structure fire in the 13500 block of W. 22nd Pl. in Applewood. JeffCom advised that garage attached to the home on fire with flames showing. Engine 5 arrived to a one-story home with fire from the garage Alpha side that is under construction and started fire attack in the offensive strategy with a 2 1/2 line and secured their own water supply. Engine 2 arrived and started primary search, Tower 2 with utilities and Engine 17 as RIT. District 1 arrived and assumed command on the Alpha side, and Medic 52 arrived and assigned as medical. Crews got the fire quickly out and started overhaul. The residents and pets were able to get out on their own and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
